Remote Work Success: Our Best Practices For Collaboration and Communication

Communication within any team, if done effectively, can lead to a beautiful partnership. However; if communication is not done effectively it can lead to a relationship breakdown. Below are some of the tools we utilize to make it easier for effective communication within our team.

One of the tools we use as a team is Voxer. Voxer is similiar to a walkie talkie but is an app on your phone. The app will notify you when you have a message and you can listen to it at your convenience. Since our team doesn’t have set working hours it allows us to communicate while we are working and receive a message back when the other person listens and responds.

Another effective tool we use is Basecamp. Basecamp is a project taskboard where tasks are assigned to different members of the team. If there are questions, we can tag another team member within a task to communicate. It also allows us to cross off assignments as they are finished so they are removed from the list.

We also utilize email to communicate any longer questions about tasks. It is easier to type out an email for certain items than to send a voxer message sometimes.

When we have training and want to get together as a team we utilize Google Meet. Since we are all in different locations this allows us to see each other and learn together but remotely.

As in any business, these tools are only effective if each member of the team completes their tasks as assigned. If there is a member of the team that doesn’t do what is assigned, then the team has some problem solving to do so work can continue like a well oiled machine.
