Time management is an important part of anyone’s day, especially busy entrepreneurs. In order to make the most of the hours in your day, there are many steps you can take to ensure both efficiency and success. We’ll outline our tried and true tips, what a busy entrepreneur can do to organize their day better, and what tasks would be beneficial to outsource— which can save SO much time & energy!

  1. Prioritize your tasks:
    • One way to begin prioritizing tasks is to make a list in order of importance. If you divide your tasks into categories of urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, and not urgent and not important this will help you decide how to best structure your day to complete what you need to, before everything is on fire. This also helps you figure out what things you are & are NOT good at, and what you can consider outsourcing. A good rule of thumb is: the first two categories should be handled on your own, in order of urgency and the second two categories should be outsourced.
  2. Time-blocking:
    • Time-blocking is a tool that many busy professionals use to divide up their day, in order to reduce distractions. These time blocking categories can be determined by the time of the day in which you perform your best. For example, if you are someone who is most alert and creative in the beginning of the day schedule your meetings in the morning. Then you’ll have the rest of the day to implement the meetings’ goals and tasks. Plus, the 20 on, 5 off (in terms of working) can save your sanity in the long run…iykyk.
  3. Outsourcing:
    • Things like administrative tasks, social media, payroll, etc. can and should be outsourced in order to allow yourself to focus on other tasks. These should be outsourced to a virtual assistant or another team member if you find yourself dreading doing them but know that they need to be done (enter us!). Give up the necessary tasks that no longer give you life, you simply cannot be bothered to do, or feel you don’t have the skillset to do well— and don’t feel bad about it!
  4. Take breaks:
    • Remember to take multiple breaks every day. Short breaks throughout the day will help you to maintain your energy level and keep up with work requirements— see what we mean about the 20/5 rule? Avoiding burnout will help you to feel and perform your best. And while you’re at it, make sure you’re fueling your body with nutrients & water— don’t have 4 coffees on an empty stomach and call it a day babe!
  5. Reassess your needs:
    • Once you have an effective time management practice planned out, remember to reassess monthly to determine if changes need to occur. Only you can decide what’s working and what isn’t. Feel free to assess necessary changes more often than monthly if necessary. This will help you maximize your time and preserve your energy. If something isn’t working, make a change. If you have new goals, make a change! Learn your flow and tweak accordingly.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the many tasks that you are required to complete, remember that you aren’t alone. Many business professionals outsource tasks and work and feel relieved when they are able to pass along tasks. When working together, an effective team is much more productive than a single, burned out busy professional. Remember: no one is meant to do it all alone. Let’s chat if you’re ready for an action plan, task management, and outsourcing! We’re your team.
